KLE Society celebrates its centenary

With the principles of Lord Basaveshwara in their soul and the divine prayers on their lips the Basava family came together to celebrate Basava Jayanti on 28th April. The children paid their humble tribute to the social reformer who was the prophet of an egalitarian society and has been an inspirational source to the Basavites. The programme kicked off with the lighting of the lamp by the Principal Dr. Manimala Roy. The choir group sang a song on Basava Vachanas titled “ My body I made a garden , my mind a spade’ and captivated the audience. Thereafter a passage highlighting the birth and life journey of Basavanna was read. Basava believed that man becomes great not by his birth but by his conduct in society. Thereafter we had a skit based on ideologies of Basavanna .The Basava Vachanas were read out in Kannada and then translated into English for better understanding by the students. It was followed by an enthralling group dance which gave a befitting culmination to the wonderful programme. It was heartening to see that even in this age of materialization and over ambitiousness the school was able to imbibe moral values in the children. The Principal, Dr. Manimala Roy took over the podium and said that the Basavites will scale great heights as they never drifted from their values and have always imbibed good moral values. She said that if we follow Basava Vachanas we will be able to move towards a castless and gender equal society.
