KLE Society celebrates its centenary

Basava International School saw life and energy being propelled onto the stage at its Centenary Celebration “SHATAM”. The event was graced by eminent Lawyer and Member of Parliament, Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi . The Guest of Honour for the occasion was Ms Nilima Sinha, an eminent children’s writer The function commenced with the lighting of the lamp by distinguished dignitaries. The Principal , Dr Manimala Roy ,welcomed the esteemed guests and chronicled the achievements of the students, throughout the year at the national and international levels. Through the adapted version of Rabindranath Tagore’s play ,the students mesmerized the audience with the rendition of “Chitrangada- A dance drama which portrayed the importance of inner strength and beauty over the exterior superficiality of bodily attraction. The Chief Guest, Ms Meenakshi Lekhi addressed the audience and motivated the students to be responsible citizens. She also felicitated the students for their exceptional performances . It was followed by My Fair Lady-an adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion which showcased the transformation of a downtown flower girl who later passes off for a duchess. The play left the audience in confoundment with an experience of unparalleled achievement. The fusion dance “Harmony of Seasons” enthralled the audience with foot tapping dance numbers. The background created on the screen through videos merged smoothly with the dancers on stage. Once again it showcased the beautiful integration of technology in education at Basava. The Guest Of Honour Ms Nilima Sinha was quite impressed by the talent of the students and she appreciated the hardwork of the students and their facilitators .She also reiterated the importance of reading in education and motivated children to be creative. It was the most riveting performance and drew an unceasing applause. The vote of thanks by the Head girl Prateeksha and Head boy Mehul was reciprocated by the audience that feted the resounding ovation for the performers and their facilitators.
