REPORT-SUMMER WORKSHOPS FOR TEACHERS

KLE Society celebrates its centenary

Basava International school organised Summer workshops for Primary, Secondary and Sr.Secondary teachers from 15 -23 May,2017.Workshops on “YES”,Positive thinking by Ms.Renu Dua, “Transgender” by Ms.Protiti Roy and “Cyber Law/Crime by Ms.Sushila were the highlights. Ms.Protiti Roy’s workshop on ‘Transgenders’ gave an insight into the lives of transgenders and the social stigma associated with them. An awareness was created during the workshop about the importance of their inclusion in the regular society. Resource person Ms Renu Dua stressed on the importance of having a positive outlook in life .Teachers were made to do five -six exercises to replenish their mind,body and soul and to beat their stress. Their spirits were rejuvenated after the exercises. The session highlighted the importance of a healthy mind and body. The concept of Cybercrime and law was dealt in an interactive session with the teachers. They were provided a peek into the world of Cyber crime and how the children and adults were entrapped in its web. Laws implemented against the perpetrators were also explained. The session on Basic Computer Applications was conducted for the entire staff of pre-primary, primary and middle wing on 15-16 May 2017 by the Computer Science department. The main focus of the session was to enhance the basic computer skills of the teachers. The session covered various routine applications such as M.S. Excel, M.S. Word, templates for uploading the marks and usage of additional features of M.S. Office. The workshop was extremely helpful and informative.

Ratna Sagar Publications conducted informative workshops on learning and teaching Maths and Science related concepts. The workshops were attended by Maths and Science faculty of the school and other guests from different schools of Delhi. The resource person, Ms. Anjali Singh, who is currently working with Ratna Sagar publications as an educator and motivational trainer gave a splendid talk on effective teaching- learning of Science/Math as a subject. The workshop began with enriching activities for teachers emphasizing the ideas of “Learning by doing” and “hands on experience”. The primary aim of the workshops was to acquaint teachers with valuable attributes of Science and Maths which included rational thinking, creativity and innovation, enquiry, truthfulness and honesty, encouraging students to ask more questions and methods to inculcate these attributes in students. It was an interactive and enthralling session wherein the teachers learned few tricks of the trade that gave them a changed perspective on teaching-learning Science and Maths.

An Asset result assessment session was held to review the progress of the primary, middle and high school students in the ASSEST exams conducted biannually. The workshops concluded with a “Spoon feed yourself” feast on the last day which showcased a spread of mouth-watering dishes prepared by teachers.
