The Eco Club of Basava International School organised a Green Drive on 21 July, 2018 and distributed free saplings to the parents during the PTM. The drive was initiated to promote the motto of the Eco Club, “SAVE THE GREEN LUNGS OF NATURE.”

The students of classes 9-12 participated in this activity with great vigour and enthusiasm. They also arranged an exhibition of myriad of saplings and diverse indoor plants. More than 200 plants were distributed to the parents. The students interacted with parents and explained the significance of growing plants in their surrounding areas.

Teachers in charge, Ms. Neelima Arora and Ms.Indu Chauhan visited Hamdard Botanical Garden to acquire more knowledge about improving the herbal garden in school. Students also planted several saplings in the school and designed a beautiful kitchen garden. They also took a pledge to grow at least one plant in their neighbourhood and nurture it.

The newly elected Council members along with their respective teachers went to Chitrakoot, Dreams, Kanchanjunga and Navrattan apartments in Dwarka to create awareness about the environment and its preservation. They also displayed posters, interacted with society members with respect to steps required to be taken to tackle environmental issues. The core council under the guidance of Ms. Preeti went to the NGO Urivi Vikram Charitable Trust (UVCT) with which the school has been associated for long. The council members interacted with the trustees and the volunteers at the NGO, appreciating their good work in the upliftment of the society and also distributed saplings for planting, as part of the Green Drive.

Principal, Dr. Manimala Roy, appreciated the students for taking this initiative and encouraged them to take many more such steps in the future.
